A Dutch Communist named  Marinus van der Lubbe, a petty criminal and arsonist who hated the Nazis, was overheard bragging about intending to set the Reichstag on fire, while having a beer in a pub.  Nazi officials got to hear of the plot, and evidence suggests that plans were set in motion to use van der Lubbe as the scapegoat for a national tragedy.

During the weeks prior to September 11, 2001, Muslim terrorists made it known that they were going to hit notable landmarks in America. These boasts surfaced on the Internet, much the same as van der Lubbe's bragging in the Berlin beer hall.

February 27, 1933

The German Parliament (Reichstag) burns down. A dazed van der Lubbe is found at the scene and charged with arson. [He is later found guilty and executed].

Historians do not agree on who is actually responsible for the Reichstag Fire: van der Lubbe acting alone -- a Communist plot -- or the Nazis themselves in order to create an incident. Writers such as Klaus P. Fischer feel that most likely the Nazis were involved.

But regardless of who actually planned and executed the fire, it is clear that the Nazis immediately took advantage of the situation in order to advance their cause at the expense of civil rights. The Decree enabled the Nazis to ruthlessly suppress opposition in the upcoming election.

After the war, evidence led historians to concur that the Reichstag fire that the Nazis used so successfully to gain political power was, in fact, planned by the Nazis themselves for that end. Although there is no consensus, a book published in Germany in 2001 that re-examined all the court evidence (Der Reichstagbrand - Wie Geschichte gemacht wird: The Reichstag Fire - How History is Created), makes a clear and convincing case that the Nazis themselves aided and abetted Van der Lubbe's torching of the Reichstag.

September 11, 2001

The WTC and Pentagon are supposedly attacked by terrorists, as the world watches in dumbstruck awe.

With the benefit of some historical perspective, we can now see quite clearly that war was launched, first in Afghanistan and later in Iraq, with the attacks of 911 given as the justification. Speaking about recent American casualties in Iraq, President Bush stated on Nov. 4, 2003: "We are at war, and it is essential that the people of America not forget the lessons of September 11, 2001." This in spite of the fact that no credible evidence has emerged linking 911 to Iraq. So another parallel to the Reichstag Fire: a campaign to scapegoat an entire population (in this case, Middle Eastern Islamics) for the purported actions of a few, and along with that, an aggressive campaign of warfare.

Another clear parallel is that there has been a cover-up, or at least a remarkable lack of interest by the authorities and the mainstream media in following-up the anomalies of 9-11. Consider, for example, the many questions being posed to President Bush by the Family Steering Committee for the 9/11 Independent Commission.

When the Reichstag burned down, most Germans simply refused to believe suggestions that the fire had been staged by Hitler himself. They were afraid to. But so trapped were the Germans by their belief in their own bravery that they willed themselves to be blind to the evidence before their eyes, so that they could nod in agreement with Der Fuhrer while still imagining themselves to have courage, even as they avoided the one situation which most required real courage; to stand up to Hitler's lies and deceptions.

When two aircraft flew into and destroyed the World Trade Center on 9/11, most Americans simply refused to believe suggestions that the destruction had been staged by Bush himself (or that he might have been aware of the attack before it happened). They were afraid to. There are countless websites and documentaries which have carefully exposed the 911 conspiracy.  The bottom line is this: the Bush military-industrial complex carried the attacks out as a pretext for control. Anyone who doubts this just hasn't looked at the mountains of hard evidence.
 

February 28, 1933

This incident prompted Hitler [then Germany's chancellor] to convince [German President Paul von] Hindenburg to issue a Decree for the Protection of People and State that granted Nazis sweeping power to deal with the so-called emergency.

In the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, William L Shirer, records the acceleration of Hitler's control in the aftermath of the Reichstag fire. "On the day following the fire, February 28, he [Hitler] prevailed on President Hindenburg to sign a decree 'for the Protection of the People and the State' suspending the seven sections of the constitution which guaranteed individual and civil liberties . . . the decree laid down that:

"Restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press; on the rights of assembly and association; and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephone communications; and warrants for house searches, orders for confiscation as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed."

November 2001

The text of the US legislation abrogating constitutionally guaranteed civil rights (Homeland Security Act) had already been prepared prior to the time of the WTC and Pentagon attacks. Unprecedented, the laws were enacted less than a month after September 11, without significant opposition or debate.

Capitol Hill legislators barely bothered to read the bills they approved (possibly because they were threatened Dick Cheney that if Congress didn't approve the bill they would be blamed for the next terrorist attack). As a result, as if by flipping a switch, anyone suspected of terrorism in America is now presumed guilty until proven innocent. The authorities are free to accuse anybody of being or supporting a terrorist.

The following excerpts are remarks made by George W. Bush, in November 2002 at the signing of the Homeland Security Act.

"Dozens of agencies charged with homeland security will now be located within one Cabinet department with the mandate and legal authority to protect our people. . . The new department will bring together the agencies responsible for border, coastline, and transportation security . . . And I'm grateful that the Congress listened to my concerns and retained the authority of the President to put the right people in the right place at the right time in the defense of our country."

On March 2, Hitler was asked by a correspondent of the Daily Express whether the suspension of liberties was permanent. He answered in the negative saying that full rights would be restored as soon as the Communist danger was over.

The reality was that the decree of February 28th established what would become the normal order of things under National Socialism - arrest on suspicion, imprisonment without trial, the horrors of the concentration camps. This condition would persist until the end of the Third Reich.

Immediately after its promulgation the decree was turned against the real and fancied enemies of the Nazi Party. In the last weeks of the election campaign the Marxist press was silenced. The Social Democrats found it impossible to campaign effectively and even respected Center party politicians like former Reich Chancellor Heinrich Bruning had their meetings broken up by brown-shirted SA thugs. Despite this the Nazi Party fell far short of the two thirds majority needed to change the constitution.

Hitler now showed his contempt for the rule of law by turning the decree of February 28th against those states where significant opposition still existed. Using the argument that local authorities were unable to maintain order, which was in the main being disrupted by drunken brownshirts and SS members, the government replaced the legally constituted governments of Wurttemburg, Baden, Bremen, Hamburg, Lubeck, Saxony, Hessen and Bavaria.

Emboldened by their success in forcing the Homeland Security Act through Congress, Bush and Cheney started drafting Patriot Act II, which is a mirror image of powers that Julius Caesar and Adolf Hitler gave themselves. Whereas the First Patriot Act only gutted the First, Third, Fourth and Fifth Amendments, and seriously damaged the Seventh and the Tenth, the Second Patriot Act reorganizes the entire Federal government as well as many areas of state government under the dictatorial control of the Justice Department, the Office of Homeland Security and the FEMA NORTHCOM military command. The Domestic Security Enhancement Act 2003, also known as Patriot Act II is by its very structure the definition of dictatorship.

You are encouraged to study the new Patriot Act and to compare it to the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. Ninety percent of the act has nothing to do with terrorism and is instead a giant Federal power-grab with tentacles reaching into every facet of society. It strips American citizens of all of their rights and grants the government and its private agents total immunity.

And it's NOT a temporary measure.  Bush, in his State of the Union address on January 20th, 2004 stated the following:

Key provisions of the Patriot Act are set to expire next year.  The terrorist threat will not expire on that schedule. Our law enforcement needs this vital legislation to protect our citizens. You need to renew the Patriot Act. (Applause.)

March 5, 1933

National elections give Nazis 44% plurality in the Reichstag. Herman Göring [who later played a central role in the Nazi government and war effort] declares that there is no further need for State governments.

Over the next few weeks, each of the lawful Weimar State governments falls to the same ruse:
  - Local Nazi organizations instigate disorder;
  - The disorder is quelled by replacing the elected state government by appointed Nazi Reich Commissioners.

November 2004

With US elections coming up in November 2004, and the main contenders all being members of Skull & Bones, it's hard to tell what the results might be.  But with Patriot Act II firmly in place, there's no doubt that martial law will be implemented some time after elections, provided the right 'crisis' is engineered, and it will be.

In his one hour interview recently on Meet The Press, President Bush repeatedly said he's a War President - and in so doing nailed his political colours to the mast in preparation for the campaign for his attempted re-election. He is trying to make this campaign into a head-to-head contest as to who can be the "best" warlord for the United States, himself or the Democratic candidate, now looking increasingly likely to be Senator Kerry. If the party which calls itself the political opposition in the US falls for this gambit and tries to compete on this ground, then the American people will be faced with even less choice than they have become accustomed to in recent elections. They can choose between war - or WAR.

March 23, 1933

The Reichstag passes the Law for Terminating the Suffering of People and Nation, also known as the Enabling Act, essentially granting Adolph Hitler dictatorial power, free from any restraint from his cabinet or the aged President Hindenburg and free to mold Germany into the nightmare state of his darkest dreams.

December 13, 2003

With the general public fixated on the capture of Saddam, President Bush quietly signed into law the most dictatorial act in American history, HR 2417, commonly referred to as Patriot Act II.  Bush now has the dictatorial power of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung.

With Adolf Hitler´s ascendancy to the chancellorship, the Nazi Party quickly consolidated its power. Hitler managed to maintain a posture of legality throughout the Nazification process.

Hitler proceeded to rearm Germany and attack his neighbors on trumped-up charges of jeopardizing German interests and mistreating German minorities. Germany became the bully of the decade and started the Second World War.

Domestically, during the next six years, Hitler completely transformed Germany into a police state.

Following the 9-11 attacks, President Bush  declared war on terrorism. His battle cry "If you're not with us, you're against us" is a round statement by a world-class bully, much like the accusations of treason Hitler liked to level at countries that attempted to preserve their independence before the onslaught of the supposedly invincible German war machine.

Whether by chance or design, George W. Bush is the most powerful American president in modern history. Not only does he have both houses of Congress beholden to him, but the majority of the Supreme Court acts like a quintet of Bush lapdogs.  And it all appears legal.

Hitler came to power in 1933, but the killing of Jews (and others) didn't begin until five years later, in 1938, with the historic Kristallnacht ("Night of Broken Glass") on Nov. 9. On that day, "nearly 1,000 synagogues were set on fire and 76 were destroyed. More than 7,000 Jewish businesses and homes were looted, about 100 Jews were killed, and as many as 30,000 Jews were arrested and sent to concentration camps to be tormented ...."

We haven't yet seen anything like the widespread killing in Nazi Germany, nor does there appear to be anything like it on the horizon, yet one must wonder about the hundreds shut away in Guantanamo Bay and in other lockups in the United States and throughout the world.  At some point, when the next dictatorship is fully in place, the killing will begin.

In the early 1940's, inhabitants of occupied Europe, feared the jack-booted storm troopers who guarded checkpoints and borders. In guttural German, the spoken command, "show me your papers," struck fear in the hearts of those hearing the words. Has the historical understanding of those times been so obliterated from the minds of the American people they fail to realize that now, through airport identity checks, it is happening again?

Ordered by Congress after the 9/11 attacks, a new computer system; CAPPS II - Computer Assisted Passenger Pre-Screening System, will check existing databases and compile a dossier on each prospective airline passenger. Bank records, credit reports, speeding tickets, and other such files, will be scrutinized, and the resulting information will be used to assign each traveler a threat level: Green, Amber or Red.

In the early years of the Third Reich, Adolph Hitler beguiled the world and his fellow Germans with his Christian rhetoric.  Article 24 of the [Nazi] party program had demanded 'liberty for all religious denominations in the State so far as they are not a danger to . . . the moral feelings of the German race. The party stands for positive Christianity.'

The March 13, 2003 Newsweek cover story, Bush and God, portrays George W. Bush as the most Godly man to ever sit in the White House. The article reveals the duplicity of the Christian church as it states, "Bible-believing Christians are Bush's strongest backers . . . they are, by far, the strongest supporters of a war - unilateral if need be - to remove Saddam."

Christian ministers are also praising Bush from the pulpit and feeding the flock a bowl of deception that would make Satan gloat.

Looking Back: Weimar Hyper-Inflation

After the end of WWI, the Weimar Republic (Germany) stood bankrupt. At Versailles, the victors made sure that Germany would stay bankrupt. Inside Germany, a new government had taken over. In order to gain political power, it had made promises which (if paid for through taxes) would have crippled the Germans. Instead, the new government sent a heap of new bonds over to the Central Bank which printed all the money required. That internal monetary infusion caused internal German prices to climb after a short time lapse and, suddenly, there were a lot of Germans and German businesses which saw their costs go up. Then, the German economic/financial "authorities" made a very simple economic calculation. They figured that their internal prices had climbed 20-30%. That being the case, there was about 20-30% more money required so people and businesses could meet their now higher costs. They proceeded to print it.

The German currency broke drastically on the then foreign exchange markets and import prices soared. Suddenly, there was not enough money around to pay these now higher import prices. So the "authorities" did the same thing again. They printed new additional amounts of fresh currency so that there would be enough money around to pay for imports. So it went, internal and external prices climbed ever faster and all along the route to a full-scale monetary collapse the "authorities" printed ever faster to try to create enough money to catch up to prices which were now climbing even faster than they could print. The sad end came after three years. Germany stood ruined - its money totally destroyed.

You've heard it said that at the height of the Weimar hyper-inflation a wheelbarrow full of money would not even buy a newspaper.

But how about these true examples:

"My father was a lawyer," says Walter Levy, an internationally known German-born oil consultant in New York, "and he had taken out an insurance policy in 1903, and every month he had made the payments faithfully. It was a 20-year policy, and when it came due, he cashed it in and bought a single loaf of bread."

The Berlin publisher Leopold Ullstein wrote that an American visitor tipped their cook one dollar. The family convened, and it was decided that a trust fund should be set up in a Berlin bank with the cook as beneficiary, the bank to administer and invest the dollar.

It did not take much time for more knowledgeable Germans to exchange their imploding money for physical goods, which could be used for barter.  Historians even record non-musical families buying pianos to be resold later at a profit.  The truly astute converted their currency into Gold standard money: Dutch Guilders, Swiss Francs, French Francs, Danish Kroners, British Pounds, or US Dollars. These Germans were a tiny minority, but by placing their money outside Germany, they saved themselves economically and financially. Economic ruin was the order of the day for other Germans with their savings, their life insurance and their bonds destroyed, for the simple economic reason that these were all denominated in the currency which was being destroyed.

Looking Ahead: American Hyper-Inflation

Here are the economic facts being ignored today:

From December 31, 2000 to December 31, 2003, total US outstanding debts rose from $US 28.80 TRILLION to $US 36.85 TRILLION. That is an increase of more than $US 8 TRILLION, or 28%, over just three years.

This is an illustration of the true nature of a credit expansion.

The US Debt Mountain:
This massive overhang of debts leans directly against a US economy with a supposed GDP which was last reported at about $US 11 TRILLION. That gives the US a national debt gearing of 335%. As an historical comparison, the massive US credit expansion of 1921-1929 (which was NOT accompanied by government deficits) managed to bring the US national debt gearing up to 260% of US GDP. The figures as of the end of 2003 are much worse, and these figures are compiled by monetary "authorities" who have had decades of experience of putting the best possible "spin" on the situation. On top of this, the US now has $US 44 TRILLION in unfunded political liabilities - in 1929 the unfunded liabilities of the US government stood at precisely $US 0.00.  Adding those additional debts to the pile takes present US debts (funded and un-funded) up to $US 80.85 TRILLION - more than seven times the size of present US GDP.

Convinced yet that hyper-inflation is just around the corner?

Today, there is NO possibility to act as an intelligent and knowledgeable German acted back between 1920-23. That German could have simply sold out of all German financial instruments and bought Gold backed and REDEEMABLE foreign currency to avoid the then German monetary debacle. Today, that cannot be done. There is no such money or currency to be found, anywhere in the world. In effect, in global terms, we are ALL now living inside a version of the Weimar Republic. The reason for this is that the US Dollar is the underpinning as "reserves" (instead of Gold) for ALL the rest of the world's monetary systems.

Wherever in the world you are reading this, the situation is, in principle, the same. You are standing inside your own national monetary system with no superior monetary system to escape to. That means that wherever you are, you have to consider doing at least a partial "Weimar German escape" routine.

You cannot do what some of the Weimar Germans did. Today, that's impossible, because there is no place on earth where you can even find a classical Gold standard monetary system where Gold coinage is circulating as a matter of everyday normality. Nor can you find a REAL currency - anywhere. They are all just printed pieces of fiat paper. But what you CAN do - in purely monetary and currency terms - is to choose to hold 10- 20% of your monetary wealth in Gold coinage. That is your own safety anchor.

And ruthlessly eliminate all debt.  To be out of debt today is the closest one can come to individual economic freedom.

When Hitler took office in early 1933, there were over 6 million Germans out of work; in 1935, that number was already well under 3 million, dropping to under 1 million by the end of 1936.

Under Bush, the American unemployment rate has skyrocketed and layoffs continue to mount.  The U.S. economy has lost 2.4 million jobs since February 2001. Many of those were manufacturing jobs, which have moved offshore to countries where labor costs are cheaper.  Consulting firm Forrester Research has predicted that, in the next 15 years, 3.3 million U.S. service industry jobs and $136 billion in wages will move offshore to countries such as India, Russia, China and the Philippines.

Hitler built the autobahn, almost inventing the concept of high speed road travel.  A 23-kilometer (14-mile) expressway between Frankfurt and Darmstadt, which opened on May 19, 1935, was the first section completed under Hitler. By December 1941, when wartime needs brought construction to a halt, Germany had completed 3,864 kilometres (2,400 miles), with another 2,496 kilometres (1,550 miles) under construction.  The autobahns played a key role in the blitzkrieg ("lightning war"), which involved massive coordinated air and ground attacks to stun opponents.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower based his grand plans on a high system for America on his observations of the German autobahn network of freeways.

George W. Bush has not created anything which remotely had the economic impact of the autobahns.  In addition, Amtrak and America's airlines are bankrupt, putting transportation into its worst crisis in history.

Hitler was a captivating speaker, inspiring throngs of Germans to lift their right arms at a 45-degree angle.

Bush has difficulty remembering words and certain syllables, causing American intellectuals to shudder at his frequent gaffes.
